After three weeks of trying to get tickets to this consistently sold out show, I finally had the opportunity to see my contemporaries’ wonderful mash-up of prestidigitation, they call “Magic at the Rex.” The show stars three magicians; Adam Sachs, RJ Owens (both of whom I’ve had the pleasure of sharing the stage with in the past) and Sebastian Boswell III.
The three’s distinctly different personalities are one of the many reasons why this show is so much fun to watch. Adam Sach’s gambling and tales of voodoo lead way to Sebastian Boswell III’s eccentric displays of the unusual, which both mesh well with RJ Owen’s offbeat and hilarious approach to magic and mind reading. Each performer is an equally strong and integral part of the cast.
Opportunities to see high caliber close-up magic are few and far between, so everyone should be jumping at this chance to catch the pros in action. It comes recommended by myself. The show is open to families, but is definitely geared more for an adult crowd. Its a great date idea when dinner and a movie just won’t cut it.
Show times are Saturdays at 8:00 PM. Tickets and further information is available at Magic at the Rex’s website. Performances are at the Rex Hotel.
